About the Mennonite Historical Society of Iowa

The Mission of the Mennonite Historical Society of Iowa is:

  • To tell and interpret the story of Iowa Mennonites and Amish,
  • To collect and preserve relevant artifacts and historical records, and
  • To provide genealogical resources.

The Mennonite Historical Society of Iowa operates the Iowa Mennonite Museum and Archives on the grounds of the Kalona Historical Village.

A display of Amish and Mennonite Head coverings.  Numerous bonnets and other head coverings hang on a black cloth pinboard.  In front of the pinboard, seven styrofoam heads model five black bonnets, a cream colored bonnet, and a white bonnet.  Labels and photo illustrations are also featured.
